email

The word, which is also spelled e-mail, means electronic mail. The first use of messaging over the Net was in September 1973. Len Kleinrock connected to Brighton, England, over the Net from Los Angeles and exchanged messages with a colleague asking to a colleague to send over Kleinrock's razor, which he'd left in England. While it was really an early form of chat, it led the way for electronic messaging.
