Welcome to the alpha (i.e., only for the brave) version of the new saila.com. Bug reports welcome.

BBS

Before the popularization of the Internet, bulletin boards were the common medium for file-sharing, chatting, and posting content. These were generally small operations where people dialed into a local phone number to a small, independently run online community. AOL, Compuserve, and the Well, however, were not BBS but rather commercial service providers. The first BBS was created in 1978 by Ward Christensen and Randy Suess called RCPM (for Remote CP/M, an precurser to MS-DOS).
