The Internet turned 35 this year yet somehow 2004 managed to create an air of excitement about the medium’s potential. The sense of possibility is almost as rich as it was a decade ago. In fact, some of this year’s trends harken back to then, too. Read my year-in-review for 2004.

Now that we're at the half-point of the decade, I think it's about time we started pronouncing the year as "twenty oh five" instead of "two thousand and five"...or maybe we've gotta wait until 2010 so we can just drop the "oh" and say "twenty ten". At some point we've gotta make the switch-over or it starts to become a mouth full: "two thousand and seventy eight" as opposed to "twenty seventy eight", for instance. And besides it just sounds more futuristic.
