Newfoundland’s new name

As I work on a piece about one journalist’s attempts to make money online, I thought I’d share something completely unrelated: the province that can always get a laugh is changing its name.

Newfoundland will now officially be known as Newfoundland and Labrador. The province had asked for the name change in 1999.

At the time, Qubebec Premier Lucien Bouchard claimed the name change was a provocation, as la belle province has a long standing dispute about the Quebec-Labrador border.
